"Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude." Ralph Marston
Introduction to Tourism Excellence
Tourism Excellence has been designed to help tourism businesses and destinations get the best from their workforce, deliver the best possible visitor experience, grow tourism by working together, and ensure a sustainable industry.
Case Study of the Month: Chefs in the City
In 2002 Restaurant and Catering Victoria (RCV) embarked on an annual program designed to expose regionally based apprentices to the range of work opportunities available in the industry. The need was to not only demonstrate other opportunities, but also to boost their enthusiasm for the work, to provide new ideas and thinking and, hopefully, to increase their commitment to remain within the industry.
“Having worked globally as a Business Manager and Facilitator for a large corporation I have been exposed to a broad range of programs and resource material. I find the Tourism Excellence material extremely comprehensive and very professional. It covers all areas that you need to think about when operating a Tourism business plus good thought provoking questions that every business operator should ask themselves periodically. The links to other sites provide you with additional excellent resources and research data. I love the case studies; they are inspiring, stimulate your creativity and give you the courage to go out and do it.”

Participation – Getting Involved.
The final module ‘Participation – Getting Involved’ of the Tourism Excellence program was launched by The Hon Tim Holding MP, Minister for Tourism and Major Events on the 17th April 2008 at the Windsor Hotel.
‘Participation – Getting Involved’ aims to create an environment that nurtures the development of industry leaders, provides effective structures and encourages improved industry networks, participation and engagement.
Steve Moneghetti, one of Australia’s greatest ever distance runners, was the guest speaker at the launch. Steve spoke of his life as a long distance runner and similarities of running a business and that you can’t do it on your own. You need the support of others who you can learn from.
